Yeah, this is supposed to be a blog about the awesomeness of white power, but let’s focus on discrimination of another kind for a moment. It’s racism’s ballet dancing, show-tune singing cousin: HOMOPHOBIA!
What is homophobia? Is it fear of gay people? Is it hatred of gay people? Is it as funny as coulrophobia?
Yes, yes, and only if it involves Bruno (Ali G character, not Bruce Willis and his shitty band). Just because
someone doesn’t tremble in the presence of something or someone doesn’t mean they aren’t afraid. Remember the Gwen Araujo story? Yeah, the moron dudes were pissed that they had fornicated with an anatomical male, but mostly they were afraid of what would happen if everyone else found out about it. Well, guess what, assholes….everyone found out about it, and now you all get to be made into women for many, many years.
How many people still use the word faggot? Up until high school ended for me, I heard it all the time. Now that I actually get to choose who I spend time with, I hardly hear it at all. I have to admit I still chuckle at a well placed “fag”. It’s wrong, I know. Remember when Eminem was being protested outside of the MTV Awards (Or was it the Grammy’s? Or who gives a flying fuck?) for anti-gay language in his music? There was never even any hint of a moment where it seemed like it would hurt his career. His label wasn’t thinking about dropping him, no concert promoters were mulling over keeping him out of their venues. Nobody outside of the gay community really stood up to say anything. Now, if, say, Hinder (I picked them because they seem incapable of irony or social awareness….and they seem like douchebags…..and they suck.), injected the word “Nigger” into a song…well…you probably already have an umbrella picked out for the ensuing shitstorm.
I know not saying the word “faggot” isn’t going to fix every injustice that gay people in America face, but it might make them seem a little more included.
